Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Like a natural patchwork quilt, words fail me too, to say how beautiful this landscape is - worlds away from the big City-smoke and smog and thank heavens for that! This is so 'teddibly English', the way I always imagined it ... BB

Great day in the mornin', that is so much like the old Irish sod in this splendid pastoral quilt foto, Andrea, with various shades of green to emphasize the variety of the landscape. And you replaced cylinders in your old vehicle? Add auto mechanic to your list of talents.

Nothing in the world like it. The soft pastels are just so beautiful. No other landscapes can make me long for a place I've never been.

From an inland boy this is the sort of view I love, the first glimpse of the sea.

I loved driving in England. Around each corner a beautiful scene or bit of history would jump right out at me, like glimpses of patchwork fields caught between tree lined roads. Early one spring, I was having some tension at work. Due to car issues, I was having to go pick up my husband, Bill, at lunch each day. It was a 20 minute drive each way. As I drove the back roads to our house, I felt the tension melt away in the beauty of the scenery. The bushes and trees were budding out and had a lace-like appearance. It was wonderful and I was able to face my boss again with equanimity. I really needed my daily dose of English countryside that spring. Beautiful place and capture! I took a virtual drive down A35 and found a place that looked similar, though the day was rather more gray. I took a detour and explored the village of Litton Cheney which is beautiful and has a footpath I'd love to explore. I know it's wrong to be envious, but I really envy you your homeland. Thanks for sharing it with us and bringing up all kinds of pleasant memories for me.
