Description

So, I have a niece who just graduated from high school and takes after her Aunt Jeanne. When I was her age, this would NEVER have been allowed - and we would be ostracized and even attacked (physically as well as with the Bible). One or both of us might have been sent for psychiatric treatment... Oh, how times have changed...some of the kids at my niece's high school were curious...some thought it was actually "cool"...a small handful were offended or freaked out (usually in the name of some patriarchal desert deity)... But for the most part, nobody really cared one way or the other. I know today's world has its problems and things are far from perfect...but for some of us, today is far better than the (so-called) "good old days"... Thanks for looking and commenting!

The "good ol days" were never that good. Tolerance and acceptance were rare in all forms. A patriarchal society that is based on a monotheistic religion is not the best place to be different (at least not openly). Things have gotten better, but there are always going to be haters and homophobes and bigots. Just look at our government and listen to the venom and stupidity that issues forth on a daily basis. I believe in diversity in all things and despise being ruled by laws set in stone (literally) 2000 years ago.
