My uncle was a tail gunner aboard a B17 back during WW2. Amazing what these planes and their crews were able to survive. I saw another one back in the 1990s. The foundation that kept her flying said it cost $2000 an hour to maintain the aircraft and keep it airworthy - and that was back then.
