Description

Just a pond near home. (Much richer full size...) Some of you have asked how I'm doing: I appreciate everyone's concern. I have a health problem and the recovery is slow. But it's getting better. A loved one fell down a flight of stairs in April and it was touch and go for a while. But she's much better now. It just takes time for me right now. And as I said in February, I'll be here from time to time to say hello. I've done a bunch of your galleries now, and will be doing the rest this week. Thank you for all the love when I returned: I hope to give it back to all of you. I'll post probably one more time before I step away, but I'll be visiting all of you before I leave. And thanks for the love when I left too: It made it so much easier. You were all so grand, and I appreciated it very much. Thanks again, and have a fine Wednesday Peace, Mark

First of all let me say thank you so much for taking time to visit the gallery, and check in on all you're friends. I'll be sure to keep you and you're loved one in my prayers as you both are in the midst of recovery. Thank you so much for sharing this lovely view near you're home. This place must hold a special place in your heart for obvious reasons. I love the majestic atmosphere here, and the way the tree line is reflected in the water. Of course the little duck swimming away in front of you makes this one complete.

Wow. WOW! This is absolutely stunning, Mark. I love the high-key feel of the white sky and water, which set off the rich jewel tones of the foliage. This resonates with me quite strongly; well done, and keep on your healing path. We'll be here when you can come around!

There is so much depth in this lovely shot and I love the warm tones it has and the beautiful reflections are just stunning. In all a wonderfully peaceful shot, Mark. A typical Mark-shot and that is a compliment. :-) I do hope you will continue getting better every day, dear friend :)

This is simply wonderful. And I guess simple is a good word, for it's a foto that has no one special thing, yet it's grand and glorious as a whole. Just beautiful!!

I always love your visits to my gallery and am always keen to know how you are doing. When I see you have posted or commented, I always am eager to see what you gems you have shared. This is a lovely image. The warm colors contrast beautifully against the cool backdrop of the sky. The serenity of the scene is enhanced by the calmness of the duck. I also am drawn in by the driftwood, which at once seems to be a strange creature, and also seems to be a bridge, leading the eye to the brilliant background.

Marvelous quasi silhouetting, along with reflectivity of epic, if not biblical, proportions in this stellar panoramic-like photograph of the pond and environs, Mark. That anomalous errant log in the middle reminds me a bit of the Huntington Beach Wetlands pix that I post every so often. And, despite setbacks in your life, be well, my friend.

Gorgeous light, and the colors are so beautifully warm. I love your shots from this area ... they're consistently compelling, and I'm not sure if it's the setting or your excellent photography!

Just love the serenity in this scene, such a gentle calmness before the storms of winter.Fall is one of my favorite seasons, not only for the glorious color, which is so lovely in this photo, but also for the symbolism of letting go. I've always found it fascinating that there is such poignant beauty in the leaves, as they slowly die and fall away. It is like their last grand hurrah before they go, to make way for the new. Always a pleasure to see (and feel) the world through the eye of your camera, Mark. So glad you are getting better, and so grateful for all that you share with such a giving heart.

This can't be right - we all know that Chicago is wall-to-wall buildings and pavements... :o) Gorgeous photograph, Mark. Once again, you've captured not just a scene, but a mood, a sense of well-being, and a temperature. Sorry to hear about your problems, and wishing you a full and speedy recovery. I've spent very little time in the galleries this year as work has been impossible of late. I'm in a bit of a lull at the moment, and will be taking some time in the next couple of weeks to comment on all the wonderful art and people I've missed... and you're right there on top of the list! Take care, my friend.

I too love the peacefulness of this scene. The light, and colors are beautiful. Wonderful composition, with the land a narrow, long strip of golden and green, these warm tones stretching down into the water, and then the focal point of the marvelous driftwood and single duck in the serene silvery blue water. I love the shape of the driftwood, and the way the reflections merge with it. It makes me think of those caterpillars that have appendages sticking out all over their bodies. I like the shapes made by the twigs and their reflections. I love the texture of the water and the gentle stillness of the scene. It is not total stillness, for in the ducks on the driftwood and the two ducks on the water, I see a lazy kind of motion. I can imagine a gentle breeze, soft sounds, and a deep peace. Beautiful image!
