Description

This is all that's left of the old barn I loved so much. The wind, rain and all the elements took it down. There are 3 of these big posts and this is the only one with any hardware on it. When I first saw them, they were still about 10 feet high; now they're down to about 6 feet. After next winter's storms, they could well be gone forever. That's the way it is.

The sands of time can be cruel, the elements take their affect and you have captured that so well here. Emotions can run deep with the memories of things gone or almost gone, it can be like a chapter closing.

Contrast, composition and textures of epic, if not biblical, proportions in this marvelous image, Marilyn.

Nature wanted her beach back, I guess. What a cool bit of rust you've memorialized here!

It's hard to believe they're so totally gone! I mean ... those were some serious barns!! Excellent shot of this scrap of what's left.

I'm gonna sound very old here...why, I remember those barn shots back before you was a kid...(yeah, yeah): I DO remember the shots and all the journeys associated with it, and your bravery climbing on and around it, and under it too. And I remember the transformations you caught each time you went back---some shots were just remnants in the sand. And now this---what a creative combination: The gray pole next to that twisted piece of metal, so very different in shape and hue. It's such an unexpected combination. And it's all set off by two simple planes: The gray sand around it, and the sky behind that. A real abstract, a real design piece, and beautiful. I don't know how you see these things, but they're so you, and yet each one is totally different. I'd never know to look for this...I loved it when it went up and love it as much now. (Well what is it, 5 days later??? I sound like I saw it 12 years ago! Get out much, Mark???) Ok, I have to stop for now, but I'll be back again before I leave. Great stuff you got here. So unique!
