Description

Old Penitentiary Boise, Idaho What a fascinating place this was to visit! The prison has been out of use since 1973, and is open to the public. The oldest building on the grounds was the original Territorial Prison from 1870, and these "new" buildings were built in the 1950s.

WOW! Lines! Lines! Vanishing perspective...but in a penitentiary, there's really nowhere to vanish, is there? This is deliciously stark! I love the light. What a shot!

Wonderful lighting here; but what an awful place to have to live. They should make it an art gallery!

Well done - the vanishing lines almost make this look abstract, but the bars on the doors bring us back to reality. Nice work.

A prison you say? I thought these were Manhattan studio apartments. My cousin lived in something quite similar before he was married. Great perspective and the black and white gives it the proper noire feeling. Did you bang a tin cup on the bars?

Stark! and bare! and quite! - or so it appears to the naked eye ... if it wasn't for the sneaky ol' Sun, giving it some warmth! Wouldn't it be a decent place now, for the homeless ? - beats living under bridges or wherever ... a fine image, BB

Nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there...... I love the lighting on this one, Tara – leave it to you to make a place like this look gorgeous! LOL! I really would like to visit one of these places sometime..... And I emphasize the word "visit."

I can appreciate this for it's light & abstract geometry, but mostly it evokes memories of the old gangster films of the 30's & 40's featuring James Cagney, Edward G. Robinson & John Garfield. An outstanding b&w composition...
