Description
Volume II - Episode 12
Where: Melbourne, Australia
When: 1 month after E-Day, 8:13 am
Hayley considered making her bed, but in all honesty she had no idea how. She pulled the sheet up over the pillow and smoothed it out as best she could, then walked out of the study that had been her bedroom since the previous afternoon.
She was filled with conflicting emotions. She wanted to escape. She wanted to run away. She wanted to find Jason's body and bury him in the small suburban park where they had first made love. She wanted to swallow a handful of sleeping pills and vodka and feel no pain. She wanted to see the Wolf Pack one last time. She wanted to make them pay. She wanted to stay with this new group - the blonde, the old healer and the Asian guy - who had been taking care of her since they pulled her out of the police car the previous day. She wanted to stay with them and feel safe. She wanted to escape and be free.
She wanted to live. She wanted to die.
The horrors of the past two weeks filled her thoughts incessantly. Those men. Those fucking men. They had stripped her naked and beaten her. They had killed Jason, her beloved boyfriend. They had killed all her friends, then staked them up on metal poles for all the world to see. They had broken her arm and raped her mercilessly. She couldn't go a single night without nightmares haunting her sleep, or a single day without seeing Christian's evil face glaring down at her, grinning as he inflicted some unspeakable act of brutality on her chained and helpless body. Every time she saw herself in the mirror, she saw the giant 'C' he had carved into her breast, an ugly, red-scarred reminder of that first day he had tortured her. It was just the first of many such days. And it wasn't even the worst of them.
She wanted to live. She wanted to die.
She stepped into the garage - the one place that had been off-limits to her since the Asian guy and the old man had rescued her. It was large and impossibly tidy; by far the neatest garage she had ever seen in her life. To her left was a row of impeccably-maintained shelves and workbenches, and a spotless silver Prius. To her right was the wall where the six Wolf Pack men had been bound and gagged. Six sets of home-built manacles still hung from the concrete wall. Six gags and a bucket lay discarded in the corner. It was the only sign of untidiness in the entire room.
The thought of those men, of everything they had done to her, filled her with shame and terror. The thought of those men having slept here last night, while she lay awake, wracked with nightmares in a room just a few metres away, filled her with rage.
She didn't even know how she felt about what was taking place at this very moment, at the shopping centre that had been her prison and torture chamber for the past thirteen days.
She wanted to live.
She wanted to die.

I wanted to wait a while before going on to read your story ... but I could not hold back any more. Now I'm up to date once again ... and have to wait for the next episodes. You're doing an excellent job!!!!! (Sometimes I think about translating your story into German ... but these are only thoughts at the moment.)
