Nice shot of the hay mowing machine as it dutifully levels the field, A, but I would be sneezing endlessly if I was standing out there, as a result of all that activity.

And it used to be people with scythes getting all dusty and sweaty...I would imagine the dust and sweat are still there, along with the petrol fumes. Excellent capture!!

So evocative! I'll skip the song, as I already have enough crap in my head that drives me crazy!

A great food source and stash for the leaner periods of the year ... for lots of animals, and I love the smell of freshly cut hay, so organic, marvellous - BB

That is an annoying song in the same area as "In the quarter masters stores" But we loved to sing them as kids eh? Nice shot BTW!

I hadn't heard that song before. I only got to "4 men went to mow" too. Our song for driving our parents mad was "99 bottles of beer on the wall." The other one (as we sang it) was: Around the corner And under a tree A sergeant major Said this to me Who would marry you This I'd like to know Cause every time I see your face It makes me want to go Around the corner (cont. ad nauseam) I really love this image! I love the simple composition and strong lines, the slight haze of the kicked up grain, and way it makes me think of peaceful and lazy countryside days. This shows that I was the one walking by and seeing the farmer in the field, not actually doing any work myself. Beautiful capture!
