In real life, there are several times a year when my entire family is gone, except me. I barely sleep, listening for any creak or groan that might indicate an intruder.

I can imagine that when your family is gone and you are all alone at home, that you are afraid for intruders. For me it's the most common thing.. I mean being alone in my home :) Nice image ..

When you live alone, you have to be brave. When you have people with you, you feel protected by them. Not a good thing, though, when they are not with you! Thanks!

Thankfully I have never felt like that at home but there have been a few times camping in the woods when the unfamiliar sounds have keep me awake hoping for the night to pass – the morning light being a very pleasant sight! Fantastic scene – love the narrative!!!
