Since I was little I recalled the tales of my dad's first car, if I recall correctly it was an old early 50's Buick with a straight eight he had rebuilt with high performance parts. I still recall my uncles and aunts stories of hearing the police chasing him throughout the entire neighborhood, and him flying around the corner, speeding up to the driveway, parking the car in the back yard and walking to the street in time to see the police coming around the corner. I recall another story of a guy with a '49 Merc coming back every weekend trying to beat his Buick and losing every time. Well, whether it was subconscious or coincidence, both my oldest sister and I had a Buick as our first cars too. She had a '76 Century with a V6, and I had a '77 Regal with the Buick 350. Oh, how I miss that car too. It was such a beautiful car, light blue metallic with white landau roof, and matching two-tone interior. Anyway, being bitten with the car bug - thanks dad - I somehow found interest in old Skylarks. One day I came across information about the old Grand Sports and the limited production GSX and the Stage 1 option; and was I ever hooked! Throughout many of my jobs I have been fortunate to drive a lot of cars, Vette's, Trans Am's, and even a Grand National(another favorite). But you guessed it, the GSX is the one I want. I even have my own custom paint scheme designed for it if I am ever so fortunate to ever be able to find our have my own built - black w/ the factory stripes painted in charcoal with a bright purple stripe outlining the charcoal stripe, all over subtle purple metalflake ghost flames.
