Description

Life is not always a cup of tea in the backstreets of Erzurum in eastern Turkey. Just outside the old fortress, city life quickly deteriorates into a bit of a squaller. Yet even here people have dignified their homes with blue painted doors and red walls, worn and faded though they may be.

and the child seems well-dressed Great capture isn't this scene replayed over and over again in countless cities around the world?

Beautiful shot and compositon. The treatment you gave to the image is excellent. The prominent colors make it like a mosaic. The backstreets always have the most telling views and some of the most interesting.

The buildings seem worn but not totally neglected and I don’t see any trash in the streets which to me reflects on the dignity of the people living there. Great looking capture, nice colors and perspective!

Frankly this alley looks a lot cleaner than most alleys in Kansas City... These people may be poor in monetary means, but not in spirit.. Wonderful capture, Roxy!

The irrepressible nature of people will always be to lift themselves out of squalor through such simple things as beautifying their suroundings! Nice shot!

Even though the people liding here might be poor in a material sense it does not appear they are poor in the way they embrace life. I can almost feel the dense but calm everyday life atmosphere there. Great shot!

Great capture! There is a lot of this here, but you allways will see plants and flowers, no matter how poor the houses are.

A fine example of gritty realism, though the color does give it somewhat of an uplifting, optimistic tone...

I find it good that you go in the streets, away from tourism. This is where the people live their traditions. A - for me - a moving picture!

Blues not just in the doorway, but the puddles, up the building.. they lead the eye around the photo in a journey of discovery!

This is such a very good shot of this old and worn down backstreet. Thank you for sharing what sometimes we are not even aware of. Excellent capture!!! And thank you also, for your very nice comment on my work "A Quiet Place". I just love how you put in at the end of your comment "Did you happen to say that you like red? Very good sense of humor and I like the way you worded that. Thanks Roxy!
