Description
Zam and Zan’s Prehistoric World
Narrative:
Zan felt the falling sensation as he entered the T-portal, and then it was over. ‘Did the portal fail?’ He always got sick going through a T-jump, but not this time. He landed gently on some grass and looked around. His brother was already walking away through the grass and he hurried to catch up.
“Snake!” Zan shouted.
“That’s a twig,” Zam replied.
“Is that a Snake?” Zan pointed.
“That’s another twig,” Zam replied.
“Snake!” Zan shouted.
“That’s still a twig,” Zam sighed.
Zan carefully stepped over the twig, “Where are we?” Zan asked.
“We are in a hole.” Zam stated and continued walking.
“Huh?” Zan asked confused.
“We are inside the hole you call a trans-jump, but we aren’t doing it your way. Your way is dumb and makes everyone sick.” Zam explained.
“What are you talking about brother?” Zan asked. “There is only one way, you open a portal between two places and fall through.”
“You’ve got it all wrong.” Zam said as he walked.
“That’s what a trans-portal is,” Zan answered. “It’s a hole from one point in space to another, but can only be done short distances.”
“Do you know where the top of a hole is?” Zam stopped, turned around and grabbed his brother’s wrist and held it up. “And do you know where the bottom of a hole is?”
“Of course,” answered Zan
“We are in the middle of your hole. This thing inside your wrist,” Zam stated, “makes you move too fast through the hole, you never see the middle, and that’s why you get sick.”
Zan stood in shock. His brother had just described the ekpyrotic theory. He ran to catch up with his brother.
“Brother, our greatest scientists have tried to solve the ekpyrotic theory for centuries, but that isn’t how trans-jumping works.” Zam explained.
“Can you explain where we are right now?” Zam asked.
Zan looked at the stars and the near planets. He had to admit this was not Earth, and the ekpyrotic theory would allow jumps between planets. ‘How could an illiterate cave boy have solved that theory?’
Zan looked at his brother. Something wasn’t right. Zan ran up next to his brother as he walked.
“You liar!” Zan stated.
Zam smiled mischievously, “I didn’t lie.”
“You did not solve the ekpyrotic theory on your own; someone helped you, or told you about it.” Zan accused.
“I did solve it on my own; I just didn’t know what I had done.” Zam said coyly.
“How did you solve it?” Zan asked. “I’m third year in physics and you can’t even read.”
“I know how a hole works.” Zam stated simply.
Zan’s eyes widened, “That’s where we are going, who is it?”
Zam kept walking and said, “Grandfather.”
“Grandfather Turtle?” Zan asked. “But he’s on Earth.”
“No, Grandfather Destroyer,” Zam said.
Zan froze in place. ‘Grandfather Destroyer?’ he thought, ‘the greatest demon mind in the universe.’
“But he lives on the Demon World and that’s 2 million light years away!” Zan breathed.
“Then you better keep up,” said Zam while wondering what a light year was.
