Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Wonderful light and details!

Great find, I am still amazed how they stay still for you to capture :o)

It seems the insects pose for you in these shots, some kind of insect whisperer might you be?.. (chuckle)... wonderful detail and lovely natural colours in this capture. Interesting thing is I have a Panasonic DMC-TZ5 and never been able to manage this kind of quality even though they are a high quality camera range, looking at the camera details you know your settings.

Lovely image composition and nice shot and capture

Wonderful capture! I agree with your assessment of the temperatures and the people who actively seek areas in that range. Anything above 75F/23C is too high for me

Nice shot Andrea and it's probably hotter here than where they are!!

Too hot for me. We're expecting that kind of temp this week too, it was creeping up yesterday, and I'm in the "prefer it 60 and below" crowd. Bring on the autumn and then winter! But what a lovely shot you've captured here!

I hate the heat through heat exhaustion, but the time of the year for a nature man is paramount. In the old days, I would slip into night mode with the lack of bees etc, Since owning the 1 series, I can now look forward to bird photography in the winter months. It's been sticky here in London too. I absolutely agree with you about the money to go abroad. Never been interested there myself. This is a great shot btw Andrea!

Thanks for braving the heat to get this fine picture.

Great color, detail and focus achieved with your Tizzy 3 in this splendid macro, Andrea. And a blasted 31Celsius/89Fahrenheit degrees in your garden? That is really warm for the UK. My brick covered patio repeatedly records temps in the 90s, and beyond, during the summer. Nice and cool indoors though with the lower 80s.

A gorgeous capture Andrea and I think that a tiny bug just above the ply!

Super shot. He looks like a big fellow. We have heat lovers here that live out in our Mojave Desert. They are called 'Desert Rats'.

Lovely! I like the perspective, the low angle, the light, the dof ... everything about this is pleasing! Sorry to hear about your heat ... we've got it here, too. :(

Great capture love the bright vivid yellow flowers too was 95 here in Ky and our heat index was 102...people were pouring water over their heads (workers) to keep cool.......would hate to work on the highway with that hot asphalt steaming in my face...and the poor mailmen and mail women delivering mail..........bet they are exhausted when they are done........would hate to have their job.......and the wave of hot air continues on:( at least that is what it said on world news last night.........yep some people are crazy to pay to get this heat..........we're complaining about the heat now.....come a lil later will be complaining about the cold.....no in between for us......soon it will be august again,,,this year has flown by..........yrs keep get shorter and shorter or is it because were getting older and noticing it more......anwyay were stuck with like it or not again great capture............ Hugs Susan

I do like the environment included in this close up. Your camera manages a huge depth of field, quite amazing!

Looks like the yellow stuff that makes me sneeze.
