Description

For Angel/ Savage_Dragon, a fine lady and great artist! :o) As promissed I will upload some of the best shots from my short trip to the German City of Lübeck. Dom zu Lübeck / The lübeck Cathedral is a very beautiful Lutheran cathedral in the North German city of Lübeck. The oldest cathedral here dates back to year 1173 (and finished 1230) as a romanesque cathedral but already in year 1266 (finished 1335) a new gothic cathedral appeared. During WW II the city of Lübeck was air raided and the cathedral severely damaged. It was reconstructed but first finished 1982. Here this beautiful cathedral is seen across the Mühlenteich. The city of Lübeck with its many old and beautiful buildings and houses is on UNESCO's list of World Heritage site. In the 14th century it was the most prominent member of the Hanseatic League which controlled the trade and its routes in Northen Europa, if necessary with the Hansa Cities combined military powers.
