Description
Takakkaw Falls is a waterfall located in Yoho National Park, near Field, British Columbia, in the Canadian Rockies. Its highest point is 1260 feet (384 meters) from its base where it becomes the Yoho River as seen at the bottom of this photo. Takakkaw, loosely translated from Native Cree Indians, means something like 'it is magnificent'. The falls are fed by the Daly Glacier which is part of the Waputik Icefield and includes Mt Niles. The glacier keeps the volume of the falls up during the warm summer months. Info from Wikipedia. Zoom is good. A scanned photo from August 1988.
