Description

Another headache render, there's so mane reflections and refractions my poor PC was starting to smoke :giggle:. The scene set is Opus Magnum modelled in DAZ 4.6, rendered in Luxrender 1.3dev using LUXUS. The jar, hour glass, bottle and crystal ball are full non-architectural glass2 with chromatic dispersion, The spectacles and magnifying glass are non-architectural with out chromatic dispersion. The bottle, hour glass and jar are flint glass (IOR 1.56) and the crystal ball is crystal (IOR 2.00). Custom normal maps were created for the table, hour glass, scroll, back wall, furnace and furnace bucket using the awesome shader map 2 available here shadermap.com/home/

Very good "metal" material. The copper is really fantastic. The wood of the table is a little to shiny

Of all the wonderful reflections, textures and color gradations I think the wooden frame of the hour glass is fantastic. From someone who also has a reflection/refraction fetish, I salute you, sir.

I like this work and its atmosphere! Good modeling. Paper, glass and metal materials are nice. Beautiful reflections and refractions. Two little tips (IMHO): 1) Edit the wood texture on the table to make it look more scratched and not so shiny. 2) I would make shadows more realistic. For example, like from candle or an old lamp. I understand that this render was long and hard. So, if you don't want to render this scene again, you can do some postwork. Add shadows, little scratches on metal and glass, dirt on bottles, cracks on the wall on the background, etc... Such small parts can make your scene more realistic and more atmospheric. I would say, eye-catching. Good luck, I'd like to see more scenes from you!
