really great detail. I was at the local air museum with my tripod and former 500mm lens taking pictures in the parking lot of jets leaving. anyway a Chinook left the airport flying right over me as I was shooting. later looking at the pictures on the computer I realized that an airman was at an open side door and he had his hands on an automatic machine gun. it was not long after 911. sure made me think later

@ Richardphotos I was also thinking about taking a tripod but I am really glad I left it home. A taxiing Typhoon jet created a bit of mayhem when the exhaust air gases caught some of the crowd by surprise blowing chairs, picnics and a large number of baseball caps into oblivion. We were warned by the ground crew and I dread to think what would have happened to expensive SLR's on tripods. My camera is now firmly attached with two neck straps although I have invested in a monopod for future shows.

Big noisy beasts but I love them.

Thats a wild angle its at. I see them from time to time, but never making these kind of maneuvers. Cool shot.
