Description

Candace used to be a big TV star in her teens. That was before she became pregnant with her daughter, Laura, and the roles stopped coming in. She had a couple afterwards, but they too were scarce and eventually disappeared. However, as the roles went away, she found some new ones beside that of a mother, she found cinnamon rolls. The lack of a career didn't bother her, she hadn't wasted her money and still had some voice roles from time to time; her daughter was all she really needed and gave her the most rewarding role of her life. She took great care though to shield her daughter from the life of a celebrity by moving back home where she was once again a nobody. She would take Laura to the beach once a year for a vaction, always off season to reduce the risk of being noticed; but this year's vacation they didn't go unnoticed. Along the nearly vacant beach an admirer, Tim, had noticed something familiar about her and came to investigate. This is how the encounter went. Candace, Candace Warner, is that you? Shouted Tim. Fearful of being recognized she turned away as though she might not have heard him. He came closer though and called out again when there was no obvious way to ignore him. He was met first by Laura who said, "That's not Candace, that's my mommy!" That's when Candace had to turn around. She said, "Yes, I am Candace, can I help you?" Tim responded, "I had a crush on you all through my teens, you were my favorite actress, and I wondered where you had gone." Laura not knowing her mothers previous career interrupted asking, "Mommy, you were an actress?" "She was a huge actress!" Tim shouted. Laura a bit startled cautiously asked, "Mom, you were bigger?" Candace was dumbfounded on how to respond, and a bit embarrassed at this point, having her daughter draw obvious attention to her weight. "No, dear, mommy wasn't bigger, I was a big star. Tim proclaimed, "She was the best!" "I appreciate your admiration, but I wasn't the best, I mean, I was a Clint Eastwood or anything," said Candace. "But you were far better than anyone you were on set with, you were fantastic." said Tim, "And I think you would have been as good if you were still there." "Well thank you!" said Candace, "But I have the best role now." "It certainly looks like this role agrees with you," said Tim. "You're much too kind, but this isn't from my new role as a mother, but the role of an actress who has been discarded like yesterday's news by the networks and my agent when you were no longer able to play the role of a 16 year old girl" uttered Candace. "Well, their loss is your family's gain," proclaimed Tim. They continued talking for about another two hours, proceeding from star-struck fan and a former celebrity to two adults getting to know each other. It had gotten to become a little late though and both had to be going. Tim as he prepared to say good-bye asked for an autograph; to which Candace gladly complied. She also announced to Tim, "You know, I live now live back in my hometown, an hour away from you; if you ever find yourself in my neck of the woods and would like to meet for coffee, my phone numbers on there's too," and she handed the autograph back to him. Tim smiled, said a thank you, and said I'll give you a call in a couple weeks when I get back home, is that okay? Candace smiled and said she looked forward to it, and with that they both departed looking forward to returning home when their vacations ended. Thanks for the views, have a great night!

wow...I really like the story and how you threw in about the weight gain after the kid, not only being because of the kid but because she changed her diet as well. being as a very LARGE number of women and men have become overweight in my lifetime due to lack of activity and diet yet it's politically incorrect to be frank about it. your story definitely makes light of it in a nice way...I could not have written it that way...but the render is very realistic as most women are that shape now due to ...to me it is fat/obese and it is a sad fact that I have seen happen in my lifetime and from the looks of things it's not just here in the u.s. although more fast food chains have migrated to the other countries from here leading to it affecting the entire planet. i'm a pessimist...he won't call her...and I loved the humour and honesty of the child saying' mom you where huge then as well??? hilarious...i'm a waife but I have an older sister that makes the woman in your image look like a waife...and I know why she is that way although she and the majority of the others make excuses, others claim they are happy being 'fat'...truth is it is not healthy and it is a sign of bad habits and overindulgence. i'll stop ranting now...everyone has problems...obesity, health, mental...including me...except scratch the obesity...I guess seeing my sister blow up like a hot air ballon from eating fast food 2 or 3 times a day and going to bed with a super large cola and a super huge candy bar just disgust me on the subject of weight gain in this country...then to top it off the medical community changes the ideal weight charts to accommodate all the fat people...I can barely find clothes to fit me anymore but on a POSITIVE note when I do they're on sale...because why??? almost everyone else is ***!!! my wish is not to offend with my words but to make others think...as I stated I have problems with political correctness...lol chills and thrills

Wonderful image and story! love Laura's comments. I think he will call - I just have a feeling that he see her true beauty inside. Re preecher's rant, I've seen too many of my classmates and friends go from slim to supersized and when I watch what they eat and I'm surprised more of them aren't dead by now.

Like I always say, usually facetiously: thin is in, but fat is where it's at. Candace appears to be expecting another child in this stellar composition/rendering. They have something in common, and Tim is quite gracious in accepting her as she is. A wonderful story by you and PREECHER.

Once again an excellent written story and a perfect image for it!! Please excuse that I don't take part in the discussion of thin and not thin, health and sickness ... I know, nowadays this should be a topic in the modern world, but my time at Rendo is too short. I love the way you try to show us how people could handle each other. That's how it should be ... and that's why I like your art!!
