Description

Anyone who is into planes knows what I mean. You are going about your day, and then all of a sudden you hear an engine that usually isn't there! You know it's not a commercial airliner, so you race to the window with camera in hand!!! Well this is what I do anyway! You will need to zoom, as even with my longest lens it was a fair way away. If you are wondering, the aircraft is the most advanced fighter jet ever built, the F-22 Raptor.

Pretty rare sight here in the UK. Good fun trying to capture fast moving jets although I still have a soft spot for the old warbirds.

Now that's my idea of 'window shopping' :-) Top marks for an excellent capture, but a Gold medal for preparedness and agility in winning the race to catch this bird before it flew away......

Great shot Andrew. At full power it produces about 70,000 pounds of thrust and the air rumbles.Talking about aircraft, Luke AFB (where I practically live - I work out there, shop in the commissary there, and get my medication there), is scheduled to get 144 F-35s beginning next year. I can't wait. Currently Luke is the biggest training base for F-16s - but the F-35s are noisier. Fortunately everybody that counts is on board with getting the aircraft.
