thank you all for your kind comments, the background is indeed a photo (sorry, I tried with bryce but couldn't get the right look).. rendered in Poser4 and then adjusted colors/levels/saturation in Photoshop for the dark look... Flaming Pear's Aetherize plugin helped for the tone as well.. the real credit goes to the software!
