Description
In the meantime, some paint has been applied to the prototype, fashionable winglets have been fitted to the tips of its swinging wings. At last, and most essential, the engines have been delivered an could be installed to the nacelles.
In the calm air of the early morning, the ornithopter lifts off from the ground for its first time. Climbing at almost full throttle to get "up and away" gaining some safety altitude, the chase plane was barely able to follow. But the crew experienced some minor vibration problems. Now they are coming back to the airfield again, descending at light idle. The wings only slightly move for control. So the photographer was able to capture the whole creature sharply.
Reports about ongoing flight tests are to follow.
