Full throttle to 50,000ft.........
First of all credit must go to Pedro Caparros for creating such an awesome model!!
Here we have Gloster Javelin F(AW)8 XH992 of 85 squadron going full 'tit' up as we say..... armed with 4 firestreaks for Bear hunting.. UK first generation air to air missiles..,, (my Dad did his National Service as an Armourer on the Firestreak test programme at Boscombe Down..(lots of interesting stories!! usually involving Meteors,Javelins and Russian spy trawlers)... I did my National Service learning to ride a trike at age 2!!)
XH992 still exists today in the Newark Aviation Museum, and is in fine condition if my refs are anything to go by, and classified these days as historically 'significant', which bodes well for her continued existence and preservation.
( I have this 'thing' for 50's and 60's aviation, in case you hadn't noticed... British aircraft in particular!...)
