Description
Hello Rendosians !
Today's I've choosen to upload a religious picture.
It is a mosaic of the Christ Pantocrator in the Palatine Chapel in Palermo (Sicily)
The word Pantocrator comes from the greek language and means 'powerful' or 'almighty'.
It is an artistical representation of Jesus with all his powers.
The Palatine Chapel is an order of Roger II, first norman king of Sicily.
The chapel has a norman-byzantine style : you can see mosaics, arabian arches and norman architecture.
It is due to thefact that different civilisations invaded Sicily and they add up their cultures, architectures and even languages.
The outcome is very harmonious as you can see on the picture !
Have a great day !
Virginie
