Description
Another exhibit in the Henley Rowing Museum is this old sign that once hung outside the Row Barge pub.
These signs used to be small works of art. It is a shame that the old traditional pubs are dieing out as we now see less and less of them.
Also, Brakspear beer used to be one of the best around my neck of the woods but then the brewery was bought out and production moved to a new site and the beer is not so good any more.
It seems that modern business cannot accept that a good ale is not just the ingredients and recipe - it is also the equipment used and the location.
Oh well, that's progress.

I know what you mean...especially true on this side of the pond. Happily, I live in a region of the USA in which there is simmering rebellion against CCC (Crass Corporate Commercialization) of everything...we have many wonderful local micro-breweries and brew pubs that hearken back to old traditions.
