Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I've tried hard to think of something witty to say but you have floored me this time Andrea!!

Well spotted! The image looks like a design for a flag ( without the foot). The association of urban mishap artists maybe?

great shot

Lovely and muted camouflage effect of the variegated strip, along with the leg/foot/sandal, captured on the parking lot of the shopping center, Andrea.

Good find and the sandals don't have steel toecaps.

I don't know what that thing on the concrete is but that sandal and the accompanying foot are a work of art.

I can only wonder if the British Road Service Department knows that you are out there documenting the condition of their work. I agree with those above about the lovely foot, in the photo, but I would have liked to see a more shocking color on those toenails!!!!!

One foot in the picture gives this image a feeling of imminent movement, a step about to be taken, a line about to be crossed. Pretty deep stuff for a parking lot, huh? LOL! There's a lot going on here that isn't really going on, and it makes for great photography!

Art IS everywhere; you're a real pro at finding it! Those sandals appear to be quite sensible and comfortable. I've always loved the epithet "Women in sensible shoes", My ex used to shake his head at my closet full of black "men's shoes", as he called my style preferences. I hope he's found someone who likes wearing those strappy little heeled sandals that he was so fond of!

I've only time for 3 tonight, as I don't have as long on RR this time around; but I'll try to make the 3 as representative as I can. I choose this because it's real minimalism, done with real panache; it's a delight. Because of your history with articulate postwork, when I saw this I assumed it was totally postworked and transformed into an abstract. But when we see the foot and sandal (and the title---duhhhh!), we see that it's what was in front of you (with a little postwork, maybe...) I love the composition, its starkness and simplicity; and that you let it all sit in that blue-gray: What I mean is, you didn't lighten it, which some may have done: The blue-gray gives it a very graphic feeling. And I see a link between this and your bottle photography, because in both you deal with a few elements, articulated with great panache. (And what is that splotch anyway? Just eroded street? It looks like some huge staff or rod cast upon the street as an admonition of something to come.) There's even diagonal grain in the street, in 90 degree opposition to the splotch. Love the piece Andrea; perfecto!
