Description
While on a walk at the local wetlands yesterday I spotted what I thought was a bumble bee hovering. After a few seconds something didn't look right about it's actions. It finally landed and instead of a bee it was this handsome Robber Fly with it's lunch held tight.
I only had my point and shoot camera, but luckily I got a couple savable shots of this rare event for me.
This Robber Fly is often called a Bee Killer (the only other time I spotted one with prey it was a bee) I guess this one wanted some variety in it's diet. Not sure what kind of wasp, but a guess would be a European Paper wasp.
