Description

One year ago, in what has to be the most amazing feat of autonomous robot technology ever, a one-ton, car sized robot named Curiosity touched down gently on the surface of Mars. The rover has beamed back more than 190 gigabits of data, including 70,000 images (36,700 full images and 35,000 thumbnails), and its laser has fired more than 75,000 times at 2,000 targets. She has found evidence of flowing water, and her mission of determining if Mars could have supported microbial life has been accomplished - Mars could have supported life in the past. It still blows my mind to see those photos - and to realize I'm looking at the rocks, mountains, and landscape - of another planet! Anyway, I thought this the perfect opportunity (Opportunity is still alive and working on the opposite side of Mars, BTW) to have a bit of fun with 2nd World's awesome Curiosity model! The background photo was taken by Curiosity's Mastcam in Gale Crater, and is courtesy of NASA / JPL Thanks for dropping by, and for all your comments and support!

Man this is such a cool image, I like how all the locals looking at the rover and probable thinking " not again...more junk from the Neighbors!". You know you should make another one, but this one on blocks... it rolled into a bad part of mars... Great work!

Wow...a year already! It is pretty amazing to think that you are looking at the surface of another planet. Makes the Moon seem kind of blasé in comparison, but it's really no less of an achievement. Love your little 'Martians' Rod :) They always make me smile. This is a wonderful image.

I like the way you have them hiding behind the camera, so Curiosity can't see them. Nicely put together, gave me a smile.
