Description
When an actor or actress is hamming it up to a ridiculous extent, it is sometimes said that they are "chewing the scenery". This deer (or is it an elk? I'm not sure which), as they are known to do, was literally chewing the scenery. We spotted him on the drive back from an aborted hike on Mt. Seymour (outside Vancouver). I asked my friend to stop the car across the road from the hillside he was grazing on & took a few photos. I wasn't happy with any of the full body shots, but I zoomed in for this one & though it was the best of the lot. Please zoom...

Looks like a youngster. They almost look like somebody's pet when they are in velvet, but when that velvet comes off, they are warriors!

It doesn't matter to me if it is an elk or deer Claude - this photo is a fantastic facial study and a must zoom!
