Description

saw this guy at the park today. he was alive when I took this photo but not when I checked on him 2 hours later. adult luna moths do not eat; they do not have mouths. they emerge from cocoons as adults solely to mate and they only live about one week. they are much more commonly seen at night time. thanks for looking and comments!

Wonderful capture so much for any wining & dining of the potential mate

Sadly moths and butterflies do not live very long, I guess it comes down to that old quote "A flame that burns twice as bright lives only half as long", and in their brief time they give us pleasure in the garden and around the forests and other such locations. Nice capture of the moth at the end of it's cycle. Many of course don't make it as they are eaten by birds and bats and the likes.
