Description

Here's the collage of my last 8 images. Back to laundry and packing for my trip to Seattle! It's a night flight, so I'm only in late, not in full panic, mode. Sorry to be so behind in commenting.

With your nose pressed against the window the entire way I'm guessing you missed the movie. Considering they were taken from the plane these are a remarkably clear and well exposed series of images. Add the fantastic diversity and you've given us a wonderful set.

  1. I love the thick clouds surrounding Mt. Rainier. It always looks as though one could step out and walk on them! I haven't tried it. :P 2. Those windmills are so nicely lined up! :) 3. I agree with you about the patterns. They're fascinating! 4. This makes me think of Canyonlands. If it isn't that area, it sure could be! 5. I've never seen such a thing! Well, at least not that I know of. Things look different from the ground. That is absolutely fascinating! 6. I love looking at farmland from the air. Flying in to Chicago or Kansas City is like looking at a beautiful quilt. Not only circles, but stripes and chevrons and patterns and ... well ... it's amazing! 7. They look shiny! :) 8. Wow! This is beautiful! It's like coins on a chain, draped and flowing. Fantastic! :) PS ... Can't wait for you to get here!!! :)

Finally, after several days of high altitude fotos of clouds, crop circles, and rectangular patterns, we're able to post comments on your fabulous and definitive captures, Lucinda. And, I was confused as to your itinerary: I thought you had left Seattle on your way back to San Antonio, instead of vice-versa. In any event, have a wonderful time in the Great Northwest, traveling around sight seeing, visiting and snapping excellent photographs.

These were taken when I left Seattle going to San Antonio. I just loved it so much here (in Seattle) that now I'm back for a few more days. My son lives here (another strong incentive) so I hope to make the trip a yearly event. This year I was greedy and came twice. :)

A wonderful collage Lucinda. Alas, I do not get much opportunity to photograph from the air. Your first one, of Mt Rainer, really grabs the imagination, provide a whole new take on the expression 'tip of the iceberg'. It's amazing to think that this entire cloudscape obscures everything save the last hundred metres of this great peak and all the life which depends upon it. Of coarse, the clouds do remind me of whipped cream floating on coffee, but let's not go into that now. And then there are the rather surreal circles dotting Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. What a strange sight. I half imagine some giant from a bygone era, emptying out his pockets and sorting his change across there states. And of coarse, this must lend to the whole crop circle mythology. I wonder what these circles are really all about though. I've never scene anything like them before, beautiful geometric constructs that they are.

Here I am, getting around to comment at last, on what appears to be like a big JIGSAW PUZZLE ! - what a mind-boggling experience that must have been for you (and us) - to see it from above, I cannot believe all those different patterns ? Like a fine piece of tapestry, stitched together - something out of this world, it leaves me speechless ... You have captured the essence of your countryside, Lucinda - luck was also on your side, weatherwise ;P Bravo and Kudos to you, BB
