Description

I prepared vet koek yesterday. Here the vet koek is frying in hot oil. I stood on a chair and made us of auto and macro setting and pop up flash getting this result. I made use of my wife's Digital Canon power shot camera.I prepared the vet koek myself. I made use of six cups of cake flower. One packet of dry yeast. Luke warm water and kneed the dough well. Left the dough covered under two blankets for an hour till it rose fully. Kneed the dough again and left it for another hour. Heated the oil and the rest is history. Vet koek wallah.Blessed day and weekend. God bless.

You just didn't tell us what vetkoek is, but I'm assuming it is similar to a donut of some kind. Anyway they look good and appear similar to the corn fritters I sometimes make. Nice shot but be careful up on a chair in front of a pot of hot cooking oil!

Whaleman one uses the same dough that one use to bake white bread or brown bread and make small round balls and flatten them and put them in the hot oil. They then rise in the hot oil as you can see in my picture. I will keep your warning in mind. Do not believe i will take pictures of vetkoek frying in oil very quickly, I am happy with the end result both of my capture and the vetkoek. I forgot one must also put a pinch of salt in the dough mixture. When tasting the vetkoek it felt if i did not add enough salt.I must be careful wit salt though as i struggle with high blood pressure. God bless.
