I am a developing artist working on improving my abilities to create beautiful digital landscape compositions. Without the help and suggestions of the many fellow artists in this community, it would be a long time before I reach the next level.
BIO
I am a retired procurement professional who has long had an interest in photography and painting; and, lately in computers and photorealistic natural landscapes. I hope to become more proficient and perfect my abilities to produce acceptable work. My experience in art started at a very early age when I would spend many hours sketching and painting. I had instruction at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. I did some freelance work for Flying Models, Model Airplane News and Top Flite Models creating plans and illustrative construction sequences for magazines and kit models. I had spent more than 20 years designing, building and flying radio controlled model airplanes...a very rewarding hobby for me. During the 1970s, I spent 11 years in the hobby of "bonsai"; the Japanese art of miniature trees. In my first 7 tree entry in a contest, all 7 trees were awarded ribbons in various categories. Japanese landscaping became a passion for me where I completed a 3 year project creating a Japanese landscape around my home in Oak Forest, Illinois. I also did this work for several other people in our community. In 1987 I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I currently make my home. The love of the American southwest and all its beauty is where I wanted to spend the rest of my life. Now that we have computers, digital cameras; and, Terragen; I'll have enough to do for a long, long time.

Your still getting the realism down to a T, Another excellent render. Whats the Dog's story?

Hi Frank, I wasn't satisfied with the image without a point of interest. Pondered this for awhile until it hit me - have a dog looking for his ball. Further, after placement of the pooch, I got the idea for the title.

I see your point on the point of focus, but you know Bob, I am not so sure all these 3D models, although they are a nice option, belong in Terragen! I think it is better used to render photographic like scenes and I think your best work is when you focused on that...in my humble opinion

Without the models, we'd have no grasses, trees, bushes and other things. Sorry, I'll stick with them. Its a matter of taste.
