My dog Merlin adores Marmite, well we both do I did not know I had shut the back door on him until I took the pic. So much for a dog free breakfast....

You either 'love it' or you 'hate it'. I love it!

I did a Wiki-search on it and it sounds unusual. if I get brave, I may order a jar just to see Great photo did he get his treat?
Jennyfnf
Of course - I felt guilty shutting the door on him. Thankyou for the compliment. I don't know how to describe the taste of Marmite - it is something I was brought up on, marmite and butter on toast or on a sandwich. It must be good for you - it's a by product of brewing...I sent a jar to a fractal friend in America and he said he was going to use it to grease his garage door hinges... Try the smallest size first.

Mais bien sûr - je ne l'ai laisser dans la maison - et il avait un morceau de pain grillé - Je me sentais coupable pour fermer la porte sur lui!

You either love it or hate it as they say. I love it too, and so does my dogs. Have you ever tried it with cheese? Cheese on toast with a little Marmite. Yum.
Jennyfnf
No...but I will....thankyou for the tip.....oh yum yum....:-)

Never heard or Marmite, tried that...Stuff from Australia called Vegemite, looks the same if it smells and tastes the same I'll pass and just have coffee, serious Gag Factor, definitely an acquired taste. Peace
Jennyfnf
Vegemite? Wash your mouth out with soap and water!!! (ok Australian people - I am only joking) You stick to your coffee Len...and I'll bet you use real coffee beans too - we just have Gold Blend instant....

Very nice photo.....that looks like an interesting breakfast.....I never heard of marmite though.....does it taste like jelly or jam?? That cup of coffee looks great.....It's been a long time since I've had a good cup of coffee.....maybe you could send me some coffee beans from England??? "lol".
Jennyfnf
Marmite? As the advertisement says "You either love it or you hate it" We were reared on Marmite during the War so we don't know any different, it was a case of eat it - there is nothing else. It is a by-product of the brewing industry...I knew you would pull your face. haha..Not jam, not jelly, but a dark brown unctious savoury spread - to be spread very sparingly, preferably over the top of butter and fresh bread or toast, so you get the two flavours together. Here is a link. http://www.shortlist.com/home/unknown-facts-about-marmite I am sure joeydude here on Rendo. will be more than happy to tell you what he did with the jar I sent him some years ago......
