A real "Carol" piece, with all those undulating petals and patches of atmosphere rolling and interweaving with each other, with many contrasting hues singing in chorus with each other, with your flame-like strokes made of silken folds of sky (and areas where they meld into the plants), with an almost water-color-like bleed-and-spread of hues in the upper half, with light radiating out in many places (here, in the big rays emanating from the rose itself), with swirls which the light creates (above the flower), and on and on. In this image, everything seems to be caused by the presence of this one multi-hued rose: True to chakras, it not only has their many hues, but its sheer presence shapes the universe around it, turning it into a massive undulating celebration. (The idea being that chakras hit the universe like a massive sun hitting still waters: It transforms everything.) You often let petals and other leafy forms flow into the space around them, causing (so to speak) the surrounding space to take up their essence and become 'one' with them. (It makes me think, for a moment, of the Cubists, who did that with geometric forms: But they transformed space with rectangles and such, whereas you do it with sensual flowing swaths, silken sheets, and so on.) And it's always amazing how you let butterfly-forms morph into plant-forms: There are some butterflies here which could easily be petals or leaves. Always loved that in your work. And there are swaths of hue here---esp 1/3 of the way down to the center---where the hues flow as pure light, in an oil-like effect or maybe, more, an acrylic-like effect. These are where some of your "flames" come from, to me, only they're of every hue in the spectrum rather than just 'flame' colors (ie, yellows, reds, some blues, etc). And then the big profusion above the flower---the rays of light, in straight lines and big swaths; with the top almost looking like a Turner sun, lost in a misty sky. There's so much articulate activity behind those rays of light, too. This "aura" section (with the rays) is a big splash of light and hue, shooting from that rose, while the rose is grounded in luminous greens, yellows and blues. From ground to sky, it heals by washing one over with all forms of light and hue and flow. I may have said this elsewhere, but our word "rose" is from the same root as the Sanskrit "rishi"---both having to do with extracting essences/nectars, from the world. So, even etymologically, the rose is a wise being. A stunning and opulent painting, and a celebration of chakric light and its glorious plumage... (Carol, though I've only been here about an hour, It's 8 a.m., and unfortunately I have to go! But I'll be back for more later. I'm not done by any means...)
