Description
The Northwest corner of Superstition Mountain. This was as far as I made it. One day when I have lost enough weight I will be going over the top. It was about three miles from the parking lot to the place I took this picture. I spent the night and went down in the morning.

You got some great cumulus clouds there in the picture! If Bob spots them your sure to get a comment out of him!

Wonderful capture. The light is nearly perfect in this scene.

That looks pretty formidable to climb over it, totally out of my range now! Good luck with it, always nice to have goals! Now I want to see you take a shot from the top.

"Superstition" is such a great name for a mountain. g I enjoyed this series, cool rock formations, plus I learned about the Lost Dutchman's Mine thanks to it.

What a fantastic experience this must have been, Dan! I'm jealous! :) I could only imagine how much greater life would be up there, one step closer to the clouds! Excellent view and capture!

Great capture. When I first came to Arizona in 1973 I was approaching the Superstition Mountains one day from Mesa, and I thought I would drive up there. Saw all those horizontal layers and thought they were a road. I pulled off from the Apache Trail on the way to Canyon Lake and found out really fast that this is some very tough country. The only time I have seen the top fairly close was from Hueys when flying with the Army Guard around there!

Thanks. I graduated from HS in Ohio in 1973 and wish I would have come out here then.

it is beautiful. one can stand at a vantage point and think, well that does not look too hard to ascend. after the fact one finds it is difficult
