Description
A street in the north of Heidelberg. The pub is named "Zum Löwen" which means "To The Lion". The pub is pretty old, I don't know when it was built.
There is an old story from here. It is said that when the first steam ship sailed on the Neckar River, it honked loudly with his foghorn. The farmers in the fields thought, down by the river would be a lion. Everyone ran, armed with pitchforks, to the river. One can imagine that the whole village laughed about. This is where the name of the pub comes from.
Thanks for viewing.

Great story. Visited that neck of the woods about 1980. Just in time for the Wein Fest. (Timing is everything.) Still have a wine glass from that visit.

I like the story behind the name. That must have been something to see everyone running about and them seeing the steamship and feeling silly.
