Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I wonder if it's hard to go fishing with salty balls, or maybe they are an asset.....................

And I had an anecdote all prepared about an embarrassing incident back when I was a youngster playing at the beach. Wonderful composition and lighting effects in this one, A.

A colorful array of floats and I couldn't find the "stroppy old trout" over in FlickR but only a woman sunbathing topless! :)

Why, whatever do you mean Andrea? I just thought you were referring to a bad comedian. And its not nice to do that to Jeff. You'll give him whiplash.

LOL @ Mark! (But then I often do ... his mind must be SUCH an interesting place!) Love the barrow of floats. Tools of any trade are always so interesting to me. Your self portrait is wonderful! You look relaxed and happy, thoroughly enjoying yourself in your natural environment. (I know the feeling. The first time Bill and I went to the beach and kicked around on the sand taking pictures and wandering the shore, I found myself so thoroughly, richly happy that I burst into tears. I don't think that could have happened anywhere but at the beach.)

Well, your gills are looking just fine! And I can only imagine what is going downhill tomorrow! So until then I shall just imagine. I like the shot of the buoys. You can see how the sea treats the rope works very harshly and thus how many become unhinged, the buoys that is! Makes me want to drag out my very old Japanese float and try some more photography with it.
