I'll probably comment in more than one session, but I hope to do at least a few this morning. Ok, my first impression? An ocean of violet and lavender hues, some very subdued while others are more saturated, burst into by a cat on an opulent cushion. The contrast is quite fine. And the cat is harmonized with the background beautifully. Your rendering of the cushion is grand, as it's decked out in that royal purple-blue and seems to draw-out reds in the flowers---since they're only present in and under the cushion. (A very fine touch.) Then you surrounded the cat, on top, with a patch of empty space, which for me is another fine design choice (allowing space around such a huge visual accent). And that clearer space is framed by more florals (on top and to the sides). Also, I'm a big fan of flatter "wallpaper"-like florals---what would be prints on paper or fabric: You have that print-like treatment under the actual flowers---another fine touch. Then ront and center is the cat, with lavender eyes to match the other lavenders; and its coat (in grays) blends well with the wallpaper's grays. And then there's the coffee cup with another lavender touch---some kind of frosting on a cup cake---and the opulent (and painterly) cushion surface (I love that cushion---is that a "tuffet," btw? Of Miss Muffet fame?) All so finely coordinated. Then the hat: It looks like a bonnet on the lower left; but it's a full-fledged feathered/plumed profusion, with red and violet hues---the latter harmonizing with the violet hues of the background. And the reds, which are perfect eye-catchers and contrasts to all the lavenders. And you have 2 tassles coming down from the hat, for vertical balance; and a necklace to top it all off (with more reds and lavenders---this is what one might call a "well-accessorized cat"---even its toenails are red!). A big beautiful yet subtle piece, with lots of humor, and very lush at its core. There're even little mists coming from the coffee which blend into the cat's coat. And it's done with your ever-present sub-text of sensual/spiritual waves floating throughout---we can see them in the atmosphere above the cat---which is a spiritual touch that infuses so much of your work. Beautifully done, Carol, with lovely dashes of panache and humor. I'd die to see the cat, btw---when the image was finished---scratch off the hat and scowl, "are we DONE????" and scurry off, muttering "artists!" Another lush and classy addition to this beautiful series.

I do have fun creating this crazy cats in hats, and it is always such a thrill and delight when someone enjoys them. Just loved your comments, Mark, and yes, that is indeed a tuffet. :o)
