Surprising how hardy and resilient these beauties are considering the scorching 90+F degree heat we've been having over the past few weeks.

Well, these are tropical beauties, bred for the heat, and judging by this shot they are thriving. I'm so glad it's not quite that hot here, although we are apparently going to get another blast of mid-80s and upward next week. My greenery is all brown and yellow, it's very depressing! Stunning backlighting in this expert capture, Harry, that orange is positively glowing!

I swear, in some of your backlit shots you're getting an almost lit-glass feeling: The petals stand out like stained glass, or glass that's lit from within...Stunning separation of petals and blooms; the light makes the petals stand out as if they were set up in a studio; and the pinkish tones of the leaves below, as well as their backlit greens, are beautiful contrasts with the flowers. Then you have the composition---the flowers peak where sidewalk meets bushes in the background; the right-side petals meet at the line of the sidewalk, and the left-side petals fill out the space where the wall tapers away. If these are unconscious choices---as they are with some photographers---they're choices all the same: They're choices of the inner eye, and probably come from your innate sense of composition, even when you're not thinking about it. If you chose this from several versions, I imagine the composition played into that choice---it's just placed perfectly in the scene. Also, nice blues in the shadows; and the blues in the left-walls' are luminous. Also, the three flowers are fine counterpoint to each other...Another stunning late summer plant shot. I don't know how the heat effects you, but it sure hasn't tarnished your eye: If this is what you do in scorching heat, hear hear! Beautiful.
