Description

For my 500th (!) upload, I thought I'd post something sweeping and unusual. We stopped at Badlands National Park earlier today (I think it's still today.... we crossed into a different time zone, and things like that confuse me LOL). It would be nearly impossible to describe this incredible landscape in mere words, or in one or two normal photos. I've stitched together 5 photos into the panorama you see here - and you really have to see it full size to appreciate the details. This is one of the most incredible places I've ever seen! The bizarre, alien looking landscape, and ominous clouds give this landscape a very Mordor-ish look, I think. It was nearly impossible to drag me out of here - the place is a photographer's dream. There were shots no matter where you looked - just incredible... Anyway, I took a ton of photos here, so you'll be seeing more. And don't be surprised if various things or figures show up in some of them. LOL! We're staying in Hot Springs, SD - and tomorrow, it's off to see Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and whatever else we can work in! Thanks for dropping by, and I hope everyone is having a great week!

Oh man, I loved that place! I know what you mean about taking a million pictures. It's almost overwhelming. Just one more shot, and then just one more, and one more ... heck, I'm surprised I'm not still there! LOL! Fabulous pano, my friend. Congratulations on your 500th! :)

Now that is one hell of a panorama. It almost makes my head spin to take it all in. I thought it might be a full 365 and was looking for the couple on the left showing up on the far right for a bit of overlap. Just the sweeping nature of the landscape I guess. Perfect 500. Good job Rod.

Fabulous work on this photo! I've always read about the "Badlands" in Louis L'Amour novels but never really appreciated what they looked like. A great image for #500.

"Pantastic" shot! Amazing landscape formations and excellent shot. Could be the Emyn Muil in Middle Earth (where Frodo and Sam caught Gollum)
