Hello All!
This image was captured about six or seven weeks ago at Aysgarth Falls, near the village of Aysarth, in North Yorkshire and is the river section between the huge upper and middle falls.
Aysgarth Falls are a triple flight of waterfalls, surrounded by forest and farmland, carved out by the River Ure over an almost one-mile stretch on its descent to mid-Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales of England. The falls are quite spectacular during wet weather, as thousands of gallons of water cascade over the series of broad limestone steps - however, when we visited we had blazing sunshine and had arrived at this location later than expected so the strong sunlight was exactly where we didn't want it to be. The passing cloud in this image helped tremendously.
Aysgarth Falls have attracted visitors for over 200 years; Ruskin, Turner and Wordsworth visited, all enthusing about the falls outstanding beauty. The upper and middle fall was featured in the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, where Robin meets Little John and they have a staff fight in the river.
In addition to the falls, there are walks which wind through the wooded valley, offering views of the river and falls. Wild flowers appear in the spring and summer, and wild birds, squirrels and deer may also be seen. The name Aysgarth originates from old Norse, meaning the open space in the oak trees.
I have used three differently exposed images from the same RAW file and blended them together to show how the scene would look to the eye as if you were there in person to see it (albeit with heavily polarized sunglasses). A slight alteration of levels, saturation boost, as well as a touch of dodge and burn was also used.
Thanks for looking and any comments and critique are, as always, more than welcome and valued!
Carl

Truly magnificent image .. and fabulous work to make it magnificent. I am not so good at rescuing photos taken in bright sunlight at the wrong time of day, probably having a camera that takes RAW images would help, but you've given me some ideas.
