Description
These are the nicest ones I could find for this special birthday occasion, captured during the last three months, early morning, in and around the general neighborhood.
As usual, best viewed full size.
Sorry I'm late, young lady, but I was unaware of the momentous event until late yesterday.
Okay, somewhat embarrassing, but better late than never.
Hope you had a good one, splint not withstanding.
Ciao.

Ooh, these are lovely! What an array of sitting spots! The top one is nearly a sofa, and the third one is a glider--I do love a moving bench! The second one is as pretty as a piece of jewelry, and the bottom one is like a luxury sedan, lots of beautiful details. A fantastic assortment and wonderful captures, Harry, and thanks so much for reminding me I haven't seen a good bench in a while.

A beautiful dedi for Denise. (I put one up, but it was during the ebot blackout and I'm amazed anyone showed up, lol. Yours is right after Denise's heart, however, and a genuine tribute to one of her many photographic loves...) Your constant dialogue with solo-object shots, and their interactions with all around them, has given you an ease which belies the time and thought you put into these shots over the years... 4 angled shots in alteration (good montage sense) which at first are about the benches. But it almost feels as if you brought the benches 'to' these locales, to create a 'total environment'. (That's how studio and ad photographers talk, "we want to create a total environment, people!" But the term is actually very meaningful.) I think it's how you harmonize background with 'star' subject, ie, in the light you seek, your understanding of shadow and texture, the postwork you do, etc. These benches make fine companions/contrasts to the areas in which they sit. On top, wicker/rattan, with all its spindly woven strands, in contrast to those open areas of concrete and plaster; and the angle lets in the deep blue and green of the window and the background bush. In no. 2, the blue sill's contrast with the arching amber bench back; in no. 3, the screen against those smooth wooden slats (this one looks Japanese in its contrasts); in no. 4, the open fence with the open lattice work---more harmony than contrast. You picked really fine combinations. And they have your clarity and respect for detail. I like all of them equally. A fine dedi. She wrote, "thanks so much for reminding me I haven't seen a good bench in a while..." Well, you and Denise show us, repeatedly, that finding the thing is just part of the gift: It's what you two do with the thing that makes it complete. More fine bench portraits from you.
