Description

The Nuruosmaniye Kapisi is one of several gates that lead into the Kapali Carsi (Grand Bazaar or Covered Market). The Grand Bazaar is located within the walled City of Istanbul. Construction of the Bazaar's core started during the winter of 1455/56, shortly after the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople. Istanbul's Grand Bazaar is one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world, with 61 streets and nearly 4,000 shops, mosques, banks, police stations, restaurants, and workshops attracting between 250,000 to 400,000 visitors daily. It is open from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM daily, except Sundays. Though tourist shops now crowd the Bazaar, it is still a place where an Istanbullu, a citizen of Istanbul, may come to buy a few meters of printed cloth, a gold bangle for a daughter's birthday gift, an antique carpet, or a fluffy sheepskin (Sources: Tour Guide; Lonely Planet, Turkey, 2001: Wikipedia). This picture was taken on 29 June 2013, Sig...

I like the views of both archways and sort of a people photo. The guy pushing the two wheeler of packages, the young lady with the cigarette and the angry looking guy with the white T-shirt. A nice photo my friend!
