Description
Third in a series. Set in Divergent Timeline 0x4A339001BFCC219D on an alternate Earth where history has played out just a little different from our own. In the post-war boom of America and the rebuilding of Great Britain new forms of music were becoming popular overnight. Women made the most of their new-found voices and soon dominated the different genres of pop music.
Roberta "Bobbi" Plante, pictured here at the LA Coliseum late in 1974. Bobbi's early musical influences were primarily the big artists of her youth: Big Maybelle, Dinah Washington, and Memphis Minnie. She developed her singing from a young age, belting out "Hound Dog" by Big Mama Thornton and later refined her style with influences from Koko Taylor.
Legal controversy erupted over the similarity of lyrics and the main melody of one of Airships first hits, "If The Dam Gonna Break". It was part of the general jamming style in that time to improvise with other lyrics and phrases. The song was an homage to Memphis Minnie and "When the Levee Breaks". Said Plante in a later interview, "I had to sing something, didn't I? Genny and the gals were playing the main riff over and over so I just winged it. Yeah, I nicked a bit and now it's all paid for. You only get caught when it goes gold, right? That's all part of the main game."

Rendered in Carrara, depth of field added in GIMP.
The figure is Hope by Sabby. The clothing is a Daz piece called Ruffle Shirt with a custom Carrara texturing. Looked very 70s to me. The mic is a heavily retrofitted freebie from sharecg. The glass and booze are from the Eleganza Bar freebie. The light structure and PA towers are part of Richabri's Rockstage freebie. The bass amps and cabinets, hair and stage floor are custom made in Carrara.
Thanks to everyone who stops by for a look.
Next up, Bonnie "Bonzo" Braithwaite!

The way she's dressed, I think I'd be more busy watching than listening. :)

Thanks! Since she didn't have any instruments I knew I had to concentrate on Plant's posture more than anything. And the hair. Lots and lots of hair!
