Another piece of work for the GALAXY PRIME RPG. I actually started this a few years ago and for some reason I abandoned it -- I either ran out of time or maybe just didn't have room for it in the book. I found it today while sorting files on my hard drive and spent about an hour finishing up the explosion effects. I think it came out pretty good, especially for a piece of "found" work. I sent it to the Galaxy Prime author -- maybe he can find a use for it in a module or some sort of promotional context. The explosion and laser beams were handled in post work -- that is, they were different layers in Photoshop. I placed an image of an explosion behind the ship -- which I had "torn apart" and added extra debris to, and then manipulated the explosion to get the effect I was looking for. And, of course, everything is b&w because that's how the book is printed. Plus, it really helps me get the retro look I'm going for. Ships were rendered in Strata 3D CX7. I used Photoshop to convert them to line art and composite all the various layers into a single image.
