Truly amazing work, and incredibly lovely. Excellent capture!

Certainly fine craftsmanship, but I think there is still a lot of fine craftsmanship in evidence today (though styles have evolved). And the fine work tends to be overlooked because of the huge quantities of cheap, mass-produced, plastic, consumer crap...

You wouldn't be able to find the craftsmen to build anything like this in this day and age. Everything would be pre-moulded elsewhere. Your shot is first class. BTW, look out for my post tomorrow - I have taken yours and others advice on my butterfly pic !!!!

Very dramatic shot!

Superb pic. However there are some world class stonemasonery courses, even right here in Dorset, and the skills are alive and thriving The best man at my sons wedding is a much sought after carver of ecclesiastical masonry and in particular gargoyles, and he is one of many who have chosen to follow a career in heritage conservation. So hope is not lost!

Cool photo.....

very ornate. I use to work for a master cabinet builder that made interiors like this for churches

I took a deep breath. History is beautiful but a bit moldy. A wonderful capture of some stunning work. There are still people out there who do this type of work but they are a dying breed. Everything today has to be done yesterday and for as cheaply as possible. You can still find craftsmanship like this in parts of Asia but even that is getting harder to find.

A beautiful, detailed photo!

Great lighting and exposure... Maybe todays such decorations are considered useless... We have a different way to explain we are "powerful"... For ours times Tv or other media speaking about us is more effective that a great craftswork... But still I'm not sure I prefer the modern ways of distinguish oneself...

Thanks for sharing your photo of the beautiful craftsmanship. There are many forms of art. I love the things like this that last through ages of time. Our electronic media of today could disappear so easily. Things like this are more timeless. but even today there are craftsmen who do very fine high quality work....they are the artists of our time. Years from now perhaps someone will view their work with an appreciative eye as well.
