Description

I'm really happy with how this came out.... most of my work on this was scene building, and I'll share a few of the techniques for building it below. As always, DS 4.6 -> Reality 2.5 -> LuxRender 1.2 ISO: 64 Shutter: 1/2 f-stop 2.8 Film Response: Advantix 400 Quality: 1.35 kS/p The setting is one that Dreamlight put out for free a while ago, but I wanted to make mention of the technique used on the pillars because they don't come stock that way: To light the pillars, I created a group of cylinders, 5 meters tall, 5 cm in diameter and I set THOSE as mesh lights. Think of them as giant fluorescent light bulbs. Each 'bulb' was then placed WITHIN a pillar, and the surface of the pillar was set to 'Mat Translucent' in Reality. The differing brightness you see on the pillars on the right from the pillars on the left is not caused by different values from the lights, but rather by different proximity from the 'bulb' to the surface. I set the Water surface that's included in the Dreamlight prop to 'Null' and substituted Paolo's water plane so I could vary the depth a bit more, and used a stock floor from a DM Productions set (that isn't available at 'Rosity) for the bottom of the pool. Thanks for looking, your comments, as always are greatly appreciated!

Wonderful render and great tech info – Model and water reflections look great along with most of the structure. The wall texture looks a little flat and not sure but I think I would reduce DOF to blur BG.
