Description

This is for those who suggested I crop and invert yesterday's post. I appreciate all your comments and I hope I have done this Small Tortoiseshell justice. Sorry about the bit of blur to the tip of the right wing, it was a blowy day - too many baked beans !!! This will zoom.

Jeff - I missed yesterday's post, but just went back to check it out. IMHO, this one is just too blurry at full zoom & the other one is far superior for that reason alone. I think your first instinct was correct...

Who me? LOL I just agreed and now I must agree with Claude lol! But I think it has a lot to do with the aperture Jeff! I noticed more noise at lower f:stops and high f:stops with my new camera so it is best to shoot at different f:stops and shutter speeds if you can. Sometimes the butterfly's just can't wait tho!

More focus on the butterfly would have been great. I don't think to tight of a crop is good such as this... I agree the other post works better. Some times the rules of 3rds works great and yet not for everything. I agree with abreojos as it happens with me. Even with the many shots I have taken with lower fstops, it seems like I missed my main target.....for that one particular spot I'm trying to focus on is not..... My lens is not the greatest lens too but I'll adjust to different fstops before I leave my subject.... Sometimes I'm lucky and most times I'm not :( Great topic you brought to the table. Aloha

I think I agree that the full shot was better. Still, it's a lovely creature no matter how you slice it!

because of the quality I also prefer the first image from yesterday although this one is better composed! I know how difficult it is to capture butties, you can be proud to get them like you did! ;o)

HMM, I like to see a bit surroundings around the butty, so I wouldnt crop it much. Only a little and then resize it a little too. But I still love this butterfly shot.

And now....? To my mind, when I see the zoom, then the butterfly is blurred. Normally size, he is looking good. Who cares, I like your flowers, butterflies and other pictures, just beautiful, that's fitting you, as a Victorian combatant. When you received a knighthood, dear whopper? LOL

I am with Claude on this one Jeff. Post 'em as you shoot them. It is our form of art. My thought is that I tagged this version so I could show it to my grand daughter and she will 'LOVE IT" as is!
