Description
I will sometimes have no idea what I'm going to take a photo of, but will just grab my camera & start looking through the viewfinder & panning around. I was sitting on my deck doing that recently & aimed the camera in the direction of this potted plant. I liked the way the straight lines of the decking & the diagonal lines of the roof contrasted with the organic shape of the leaves. I then postworked the textures to try to give it a more painterly feel.
I only post photos that I have done the very best I can with, but I can rarely predict which of them will get a good reaction. When I posted "Buds" yesterday, I expected very little interest & was pleasantly surprised at the number of positive comments. I was very happy with the way this one turned out - I think it's one of my better efforts - but I'm prepared to find out that others don't necessarily agree. As Ricky Nelson sang in "Garden Party":
"But it's all right now,
I learned my lesson well,
You see you can't please everyone,
So you got to please yourself"

This has everything, in my opinion. It's fantastic! The strong diagonal against that right angle, the plant softening those very lines ... I LOVE it! I'm with you ... I never know what people will like. I'm often surprised, but it never makes any difference. :P

That has just got a special 'something', the colours are great and the whole frame of the shot just works so well.

I like the contrast between the wood and the plant. I think that more of us need to look at natures textures and patterns that appear all around up. Sweet postwork!
