Description
They have this name because the population peaks at Harvet time.
The opilones are related to the spiders but don't make silk or produce venom, They have two eyes and hunt soft-bodied invertebrates, although their diet includes scavenged corpses, bird-droppings and over-ripe fruit.
This is a male Leiobunum rotundum which I disturbed while dead-heading. I put him on this succulent to pose for me.
We do not call these Daddy-long-Legs in the UK: those are insects with wings not Arachnids!

Great shot and perfect description. Sooooooo many people think these are the same as Daddy-long-Legs and have even had a go at me (on this site) when I politely pointed out the difference.

Excellent choice of relocation. He shows up spectacularly well against the black of the aeonium. The Flicker image is even better, like a jewel. My Daddy Long Legs have much smaller bodies than this bruiser.
